Job Description

The main purpose of the job is to lead the business in its digital payments strategy execution for both businesses and consumers by enhancing existing or creating new and innovative acceptable digital payments catering for both financially excluded & included customers so as to achieve set targets.

Duties and Responsibilities


• Monitors against agreed goals and benchmarks, identifying, scoping and finding implementation paths for needed enhancements, and creating remediation plans when needed
• Provides input in formulating and executing innovative business/consumer solutions, aiming to achieve the business targets and improve customer experience for the business/consumer digital payments portfolio.
• Develops initiatives that drives the business towards achievement of set targets within the business/consumer digital payments space which include but not limited to Card, NFC, USSD, Mobile App and Social payments
• Develops and drives of the communication strategy within and outside the business for the various customer payment solutions available and being launched
• Recommends and implements the business commercial model (includes tariff review, pricing recommendation for new offerings, etc) through use of market insights, cost benefit analysis etc.
• Reviews and approves on use cases to be used on product testing for all products being introduced for retail/consumer payments.
• Develops and recommends business cases for new products and product enhancements relating to the retail/consumer digital payments space to enable prioritization and justify investments into new and existing products.
• Monitors customers transacting patterns and informs the stakeholders where there are gaps together with facilitating pre-agreed stimulating activities.
• Monitors the customer acquisition and activation process.
• Works closely with key partners in adoption of new offerings in the retail/consumer space.
• Assesses network performance and gaps within the nation and recommends areas with challenges to Networks.
• Creates strong relationships with key stakeholders to drive cross line of business collaboration, the appropriate level of awareness, knowledge, buy-in on strategic initiatives relating to business/consumer digital payments.
• Ensures business/consumer digital payment journey adheres to all legal and compliance requirements.
• Determines, assesses, recommends, and works with stakeholders to ensure that for each initiative relating to business/consumer digital payments has proper governance documents in place both during and after launch.

Qualifications and Experience


• A commercial degree or equivalent.
• A post graduate or banking qualification.
• A minimum of 6-8 years at management level in a related environment.
• Experience in digital payments, merchant services,card issuance or acquiring required.
