EcoCash Holdings is looking for a competent Head-Operations to join its Econet Insurance team. The main purpose of the position is to set strategies that ensure profitable and sustainable growth for the business.

Duties and Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

Manages the technical side of insurance product development, including the terms and conditions of insurance contracts to ensure profitability and alignment to overall business strategy.
Sets the strategy on policy wording, pricing and benefits to ensure financial soundness of the business underwritten.
Coordinates the input from external actuaries, consultancy, risk management to formulate the overall underwriting compliance framework.
Approves the pricing, terms and conditions, benefits limits, excesses and deductibles imposed on the new and existing products.
Formulates the underwriting policies for all new and existing products and ensures that they are adequate for business profitability and regulatory compliance.
Sets the Underwriting Authority limits, special terms, pricing, and underwriting requirements.
Design, implement, maintain, and communicate insurance and claim management processes and procedures to ensure they are current and understood by all stakeholders.
Manage and provide claim-handling direction to team members with respect to investigation, reserving, expense/ vendor management, and loss payment in accordance with Claims Best Practices.
Sets the risk monitoring and reporting strategy for each product to optimize the level of business taken and profitability.
Utilizes Asset-Liability models to set the level of risk that the business can adequately carry.
Approves the reinsurance and other forms of risk transfer recommended by the risk management and the underwriting team leaders
Sets up, in consultation with relevant stakeholder, the appropriate level of retention for all lines of business
Ensures the sufficiency, accuracy and quality of data used in the Actuarial Valuation Report.
Ensures that the business is compliant to regulatory statutes.

Qualifications and Experience

Required skills
• 5 years’ experience in the insurance industry
Degree in Insurance and Risk Management, Actuarial Science or equivalent
Masters Degree in Business
Professional qualification such as CII-UK, FIIZ, IISA
Strong interpersonal & communication skills
