Job Description

Job Purpose
The position exists to ensure consistency in the delivery and application of training standards of the academy and oversees the planning, prioritization and development of new training programs and initiatives are consistent with the ATAZ mandate

Duties and Responsibilities

• Accountable for ensuring that the Academy is always in compliance with the local regulatory requirements regarding certification, approvals, and delivery of training.
• Defining and monitoring the required quality and standard of training given by the training staff. Participates in the development, analysis and evaluation of the curriculum with a view to align it to modern national and global trends of the Aviation industry.
• Assist in the students' enrolment process and promote gender equity and equality at the Academy.
• Responsible for promoting safety and ensuring the safety of all students within the school.
• Coordinates the generation of the Academy time-tables and to monitor the timeous implementation of the same.
• Participates in the selection and recruitment of lecturers and other staff for the Academy.
• Ensures a high standard of instructors with focus on the 4 pillars — knowledge, teaching skills, communication skills and style adaptability.
• Formulates training policies and processes that are suitable for task and regulatory requirements.
• Ensuring that all training documentation, manuals, and courseware are fit for purpose and meet all the regulatory requirements.
• Ensures that all examinations meet world standards, always updated, and kept safe.
• Coordinates the compilation of students' assessment profiles and present them for certification.
• To manage and conduct internal instructor standardization training as required.
• Promotes high standards of teaching and learning through effective supervision of lecturers/staff.

Qualifications and Experience

Qualifications and experience
• A Degree in Aviation Management or an ICAO recognised airman licence
• A Master's degree in the relevant field is an added advantage
• At least 3 years' experience in the aviation industry training environment as an instructors/examiner
• Hold or have held an instructor / examiner qualification issued by an ICAO recognized Regulatoy Authority.

Skills and Competences
• Have sound understanding of regulatory requirements pertaining to training and ATO management.
• Have experience working with regulatory bodies.
• Professionalism in the conduct of examinations
• Have attended and completed a Quality / Safety Management Course.
