Job Purpose
This role is required to design, manage, implement & be accountable for the legal strategy utilised in negotiating deals in accordance with Group Legal mandate and to proactively manage the provision of legal services to Stanbic Bank Zimbabwe.
Duties and Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities
Drive the alignment of Legal Risk, Regulatory, Prudential & Compliance requirements
Provide expert technical legal advice and insight into the drafting of Legal Strategy
Assist the Board, Country Chief Executive and Senior Management in discharging responsibilities relating to the compliance and legal risk mitigation as required by relevant regulatory requirements and international best practice
Provide a central source of guidance and advice to the board and board chairman, on matters of good governance
Develop and manage relationships with key internal and external stakeholders relevant to the business and external regulatory bodies
Lead the legal and corporate governance team according to leadership principles and values
Develop and drive the implementation of initiatives including processes, systems and projects - factoring in advancements in legal technology
Enable and maintain licenses to operate
Qualifications and Experience
Preferred Qualification and Experience
Post Graduate Law Degree, Admitted Attorney and member of relevant professional societies.
Competent in both Legal and Corporate Governance fields with 8 - 10 years proven experience in the provision of expert insight and guidance pertaining to the drafting, vetting, review, dissemination and/or negotiation of legal documentation and processes of a highly complex and ambiguous nature.
Experience in the identification and mitigation of legal risks. within the legal/ financial sector at a management level.
