Duties and Responsibilities
Reporting to the Roads and Projects Engineer
1.1 Key Result Areas
* Produce specifications and designs of new public lighting, traffic signals and municipal electrical infrastructure and modifications.
* Design, selection and installation of all electrical plant and equipment such as power transformers, power generators, motors and motor control centres, refrigeration units and air-conditioners, building lighting, heating and ventilation systems.
* Design and installation of new public lighting schemes.
* Troubleshooting and repairing malfunctioning equipment, appliances and apparatus.
* Constructing and fabricating parts using hand tools and specifications.
* Ordering electrical supplies and equipment.
* Repairing electrical faults at all municipal installations.
* Supervising subordinate employees.
* Any other duties as assigned by the supervisor from time to time.
Qualifications and Experience
1.2 Qualifications and Attributes
* National Diploma in Electrical Engineering or Skilled Worker Class 1 and Electrical Engineering Certificate.
* A clean Class 4 or Class 3 driver’s licence.
* A minimum of 6 years’ experience.
* No criminal record.
* Results-oriented.
