Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons to fill the Hatchery Manager position which has arisen in one of our agriculture/farming SBUs.
The position shall be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the hatchery production, overseeing maintenance of equipment, production plan and overall staff management. The role reports to the head of Hubbard
Duties and responsibilities
• Managing all Hatchery staff
• Ensuring all Maintenance of equipment
• Implementing biosecurity measures and a program for the hatchery
• Overseeing hatchery sanitation
• Monitoring and managing facility equipment and repairs
• Overseeing Quality Assurance/Quality Control program
• Monitoring and evaluating Hygiene
• Supervising and coordinating staff in the day-to-day operations of the hatchery
• Developing and implementing safety protocols for staff and visitors
• Ensuring chick quality and efficient delivery
• Liaise with sales and logistics for efficient and effective chick deliveries
• Determining, administering, and executing policy relating to the administration, facility maintenance, and standards of hatchery operations
• Being familiar with the latest techniques for chick incubation
• Ensuring vehicles are maintained and serviced
Qualifications:
• Degree/ diploma in agriculture animal science, incubation or equivalent
• At least 5 years of experience in a hatchery or poultry environment
• Clean class 4 driver's license
• Mechanical and engineering understanding is an added advantage
