Grants Officer: Local NGO

Introduction
An organisation working in the area of democracy and governance seeks to recruit a Grants Officer.

Duties and Responsibilities

Job purpose
Assessing prospective implementing partners to ensure they have adequate systems, policies and procedures in place for them to be able to efficiently administer donor funds; Suggest measures to mitigate risk to the organisation where implementing partners lack capacity; Taking the lead in the interpretation of funding regulations to ensure that all donor requirements are met; Ensuring all documentation and audit trails relating to contracting matters with implementing partners and funders is complete and compliant; Tracking implementing partners’ expenditure to ensure they do not go over their obligations and alert finance when incremental obligations are required; Providing senior management with data in relation to sub-awards for decision making; Undertake compliance visits to ensure that activities being carried out are in line with the approved contract; Managing the closeout process; Ensuring that all documents pertaining to all projects are audit ready.

Qualifications and Experience

Person specification / qualifications
Degree in Accounting; Degree in Project Management and a Masters will be an added advantage
Experience
Proven track record in managing EU grants up to close out stage; 3 years experience in managing sub-grantees under EU Project; Conversant with EU financial regulations and requirements
Other attributes
Time management and ability to prioritize multiple tasks; Self-motivated person able to work without close supervision; Able to work effectively in a diverse team environment; Willing to work additional hours at crucial times.
