Job Description: Reports to the Deputy Director. The officer will lead activities related to climate change adaptation with a particular focus on communities

Duties and Responsibilities

Responsibilities:
• Formulates systematic approaches and interventions that can help build resilience to communities affected by climate change.
• Develop and support partnerships in piloting appropriate livelihood, health and education services in communities.
• Ensure capacity building in organizational management, leadership skills, gender analysis, financial management and sustainability, alternative livelihood options, civic education for community project beneficiaries.
• Develops, plans and implements oversight of new and ongoing community field projects.
• Manages outreach activities; designs and conducts training workshops, seminars, etc., gives lectures or presentations on assigned topics/activities on climate change issues.
• Prepares various written outputs, including background papers, analysis and inputs to publications on climate change and sustainability issues.
• Facilitate and ensure the progress of projects is communicated to relevant stakeholders.
• Drafts and edits fundraising proposals and reports
• Constantly develops content for project websites and social media platforms.

Qualifications and Experience

Skills and Abilities:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Development Studies, Environmental Science, Climate Change or any related field.
• Proven experience in community development work.
• Good organizational, research and writing skills.
• Ability to operate with independence, to meet deadlines and commitments.
• Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
