About
The Biomedical Research and Training Institute (BRTI) is implementing a 5-year US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention-US President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (CDC-PEPFAR) funded Laboratory Systems Strengthening (LSS) program in Zimbabwe from 2021 to 2026. This is in support of the Ministry of Health and Child Care (MOHCC) Directorate of Laboratory Services, and AIDS and TB program’s national strategic objectives. The LSS program will expand laboratory capacity and enhance access to high quality testing towards achievement of the UNAIDS 95-95-95 goals.

Duties and Responsibilities

Duties of this position will include: Design, configure, and maintain and support LIMS Software; Interact with laboratory users to develop business requirements or user stories; Participate in the continuous process improvement of LIMS; Provide technical help in troubleshooting LIMS application related issues; Work closely with the labs to understand their requirements for the LIMS and implement custom development projects to meet them (functional enhancements, custom workflows, data extraction, etc.); Working on LIMS configuration to meet end user requirements for LIMS users; Oversee and implement all upgrades and modifications to the LIMS, working in conjunction with the software validation team; Performs necessary quality checks in conjunction with software validation team for all LIMS deployments and modifications; Engage and work with LIMS software vendors and/or consultants to further configure the system, deploy functional enhancements, and correct configuration issues.

Qualifications and Experience

Qualifications and experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related qualification; Certification in .NET, C#, JavaScript or Python based applications an added advantage; At least 2 years’ experience in software development; Experience developing, configuring LIMS software and related tools; Experience developing formal technical specifications; Experience with Lab IT systems architecture and integration; Experience supporting .NET, C# JavaScript and Python based applications is desired; Experience with LIMS API development is desired; Experience with relational databases and Structured Query Language (SQL); Working knowledge of MS windows operating systems; Proven ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment.
