Job Description

REPSSI (the Regional Psychosocial Support Initiative) is a renowned pan African organisation that has been supporting governments and non-governmental organisations to provide holistic psychosocial care and support to children and their families in East and Southern Africa for 18 years now. REPSSI works in 13 countries and aims to enhance the psychosocial and mental wellbeing of girls, boys, youth their families and communities to be able to respond to challenges such as HIV and AIDS, conflict, poverty, climate change, environmental disasters and social strife.
REPSSI’s strategy is underpinned by four strategic outcomes:
1. Enhanced health, SRHR, and HIV outcomes for children, adolescents & mothers through MHPSS
2. Enhanced protection and sustainable livelihoods through MHPSS
3. Education and Early Childhood Development is enhanced through MHPSS
4. Disaster risk reduction and enhanced humanitarian response through MHPSS
REPSSI seeks to appoint a District Officer for a Global Fund Supported project . The successful candidate will (a) spearhead the implementation of the project and management of project resources assigned to Umguza/Bubi districts and (b) develop and grow relations in line with organisational goals through the development of strategic stakeholder relationships. The position reports directly to the Project Manager.

The contract will be for 12 months, renewable subject to availability of funding and good performance.

Duties and Responsibilities

Planning and Co-ordination
1.1. Develops annual, quarterly, and monthly work plans by breaking down the project work plans
1.2. Participates in the development of implementation planning meetings using the Detailed Implementation Plan from the funding partner.
1.3. Participates in the development of monitoring tools from the objectives of the project
1.4. Conducts support visits to structures
1.5. Implements projects with partners and communities
1.6. Monitors and evaluates community care projects through site visits.

2. Community mobilization and training
2.1. Facilitates and provides relevant training for communities and stakeholders
2.2. Provides overall supervision of volunteers
2.3. Training Volunteers on Community Based Monitoring

3. Resource management
3.1. Orders and distributes stock
3.2. Manages project stocks and reconciliations
3.3. Prepares quarterly budget plans for the quarterly activities

4. Material development and documentation
4.1. Produces and submits monthly statistics to relevant stakeholders
4.2. Produces and submits activity monthly, quarterly and annual reports
4.3. Participates in the production and disseminates relevant IEC materials
4.4. Captures best practices, success stories, and lessons learned from the project

5. Relationship management
5.1. Attends local ward and district meetings on behalf of the organisation.
5.2. Makes presentations to donors and visitors at the community level
5.3. Liaises with beneficiaries and promote referral with related agencies

Qualifications and Experience

A minimum degree in Social Work, Social Sciences, Development Studies, Psychology or related field. At least 3 years experience in Development work. Excellent interpersonal & presentation skills and ability to work in a team. Proficiency in MS Office packages and other relevant programs. Fluency in English and Ndebele preferably, excellent writing interpersonal and communication skills, and experience working with Government structures will be an added advantage.
