Established in 1895, and operating from the Business Hub, formerly Harare Showgrounds/Exhibition Park, since 1915, ZAS is the oldest and largest member-based and member-driven Society of its kind in Zimbabwe. The Society has built a solid and respected reputation over the years creating an intangible memory and admirable knowledge on the promotion and facilitation of agricultural development in Zimbabwe.
He or she will be the overall administrative and financial officer for the Zimbabwe Agricultural Society and shall:
2.1 Contribute to the overall vision of the the Zimbabwe Agricultural Society.
2.2 Provide strategic and effective leadership to the management team.
2.3 Innovate, motivate and promote high standard of operational and financial management.
2.4 Provide guidance on and ensure good corporate governance of the Society.
2.5 Initiate, propose, implement and monitor policies, systems and procedures for efficient running of the Society programmes and activities.
2.6 Develop and maintain positive and progressive relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
3 REMUNERATION AND CONDITIONSOF SERVICE
3.1 A negotiable attractive remuneration package in accordance with the Society's terms and conditions.
3.2 Medical Aid and Pension benefits.
3.3 Three-year performance-related renewable contract.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
The candidate should possess the following key attributes and competencies
1.1 Be a mature visionary leader with skills to interpret, envision and implement strategies that deliver on the Zimbabwe Agricultural Society 's mandate within the broader context of the national agricultural and economic agenda;
1.2 Be a holder of a Degree in Agriculture or related studies from a recognised university, a post graduate qualification in business administration is an added advantage.
1.3 Have at least 10 years' experience at senior management level and a good track record of successful implementation of programmes related to development of agriculture value chain and the enhancement of livelihoods.
1.4 Have commitment to and substantial experience in networking, team building, fundraising/resource mobilization and participation in development activities, nationally, regionally and internationally;
1.5 Have a demonstrable capacity to match the Zimbabwe Agricultural Society's development agenda and output incorporating enterprise development and commercialization of identified emerging technologies through agriculture.
1.6 Have demonstrable knowledge of the structural, legislative and regulatory frameworks for managing agricultural development programmes.
1.7 Have proven management capacity including knowledge of public financial management, strategic management and be able to generate support from both private and public sectors.
1.8 Have the ability to foster strategic partnerships and harmonious working relationships with and among various stakeholders.
