Job Description

The Gender Officer will provide technical expertise to NAZ staff working within the ZRBF consortia and to support the integration of GALS into care groups. The position requires an individual with a strong understanding of integrating GALs methodology in nutrition approaches identifying root causes of malnutrition within households and develop road maps for sustainable solutions

Duties and Responsibilities

Key Result Area 1: CONDUCTING GENDER PROJECT ACTIVITIES
• Train NAZ staff and consortia partners to implement and mainstream GALs in the ZRBF project activities.
• Lead in the development and standardization of training materials and manuals for GALs
• Ensures integration of GALs into the existing nutrition approaches to identify root causes of malnutrition and develop road maps to sustainable solutions
• Monitor and support implementation of the GALs methodology in the ZRBF project
• Provides refresher trainings to field staff based on ongoing assessment of staff capacity gaps and needs.
• Compiles and submits monthly reports with analysed data on gender at district level.
• Ensures gender is adequately integrated in monthly and quarterly project reports
• Contributes the gender aspect into quarterly and annual report writing processes in liaison with the Gender Specialist
• Participates and supports the Gender Analysis processes for the ZRBF project.
• Participates and contributes to the ZRBF Gender Action Plan and Strategy development processes.
• Lead in the development process of Information, Education and Communication materials development on gender / GALs for the project.

Key Result Area 2: MONITORING AND EVALUATION
• Supports process monitoring of gender activities and provides constant feedback to Nutrition and Health Manager
• Identifies emerging issues in training results and implementation and follows up on agreed deliverables.
• Assist in the development of case studies, best practices and key learning on gender mainstreaming and integration into ZRBF project including generating success stories related to project and project developments as they relate to gender equality issues to feed into the linking and learning objectives of NAZ

Key Result Area 3: STAKEHOLDER COORDINATION
• Provides support at district level to partner field staff in stakeholder coordination as needed.
• Shares weekly and monthly project activity plans with his/her supervisor and in liaison with the Gender Specialist.
• Develops and maintains district database of key project stakeholders

Key Result Area 4: PLANNING
• Plans weekly, monthly and quarterly project activities

Qualifications and Experience

Qualifications and Requirements
• Degree in Gender, Development Studies, Social Work or equivalent
• 3 years experience in gender and women/girls’ rights and empowerment programming, community development and training/facilitation, education and/or child participation.
• Superior training and facilitation skills
• Demonstrates experience in integrating GALS in Nutrition Programs

Required skills:
• Demonstrated experience in mentorship, coaching and capacity building
• Good negotiation skills
• Should be able to work with minimal supervision
• Should be computer literate (Microsoft word and excel).
• Ability to work in a remote area
• Team player
• Good communication skills
