Introduction/Background

Introduction/Background
Oxfam in Zimbabwe is working to tackle the root causes of poverty in Zimbabwe. This means we are also working to reduce marginalization and helping Zimbabweans enjoy their rights so that they can lead a dignified life. Oxfam has worked with local organizations in humanitarian and protracted crisis through varied partnership modalities. Oxfam is implementing a Food security project that seeks to strengthen NGO capacity in Food Security data collection and analysis, and complimentary activities to improve participation in National Food Security assessment processes, and data quality. This stems from the realisation that organizations have relied on the National Food Security Assessments to inform programme design and priorities and need to engage with the process to fully appreciate the dictates of national vulnerability assessments. Oxfam is working with 8 local NGOs in Zimbabwe who are the target for these trainings.
Objective(s): The core of this assignment is to build the capacity of country-based organisations in knowledge of food security, data collection, analysis and interpretation, as well as communication and use of results in Food Security and Livelihoods programming. The consultant will be required to strengthen the capacity of local actors to participate in the development of key sources of information that add value and diversity to datasets used in national food security analyses.

Duties and Responsibilities

The independent Trainer will take the following trainings:
1) Foundational Food Security Trainings (Food Security Standards & Practices, indicators for Food Security, food insecurity with focus on Early Warning indicators, Food security programme design)
2) Food Security Assessments in Zimbabwe
3) Data collection tools and methods for Food security developing tools for data collection, (manual and digital)
4.) Minimum Dietary Diversity - Women (MDD-W
5.) Household Economy Approach (HEA),

Expected Outputs of the consultant
1. Planning & preparation for 5 training modules.
2. Design a Training Schedule for the 5 Session 2-day trainings.
3. Facilitate the 2-day trainings.
4. Report writing
5. Facilitate pre and post evaluation for the 5 training sessions

Timeframe
The consultant is required to conduct 5 sessions of 2-day trainings from the 10th to the 31st of January 2022.
Interested and experienced individuals or companies should submit an Expression of Interests (EOI) inclusive of:
1. Detailed workplan and proposed content for each of the stipulated trainings.
2. Training methodology preferred for each session.
3. Anticipated budget for the consultancy for the 5 training sessions
4. Date of availability to commence the assignment.
5. Curriculum Vitae and 2 references for similar work undertaken successfully
