Job Description

Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced candidates to fill in the following position is the Maintenance Department based in Harare. The purpose of Fitter is to secure plant availability through preventative maintenance

Duties and Responsibilities

• Maintain professional maintenance of various construction machinery, plant equipment, hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical and mechanical maintenance and comply with company policy and standards
• Identify hazards and risk while performing daily tasks and maintenance and take preventative measures
• Investigate, diagnose, and perform trade related maintenance and repairing of equipment and machinery according to the maintenance requirements, standards, and specifications
• Perform daily inspections in accordance with the Safety Act Regulations and report all defects and breakdowns on equipment and machinery
• Develop, modify construct, and install all types of trade related equipment required for the safe operation of all plant and equipment
• Ensure that all installations and equipment are safe and in good working order after task completion
• Continuously monitor equipment failure and efficiency to improve trade specific equipment and systems
• Consult production teams on maintenance activities that affects production
• Support the achievement of engineering availability and production performance levels
• Ensure that maintenance related information is recorded and reported to the relevant planning office to support the maintenance of the planned asset maintenance system
• Identify all tools required for daily tasks
• Identify safety risks and the precautions required to eliminate those risks
• Ensure adherence to engineering quality standards in maintenance of equipment and machinery
• Monitor and assign work to allocated assistants according to instruction when required coach and assist with on-the-job training assistants
• Communicate with supervisors and process/engineering co-workers to inform on work in progress and condition of machinery
• Liaising and working with the stores and other departments as team.

Qualifications and Experience

• National Certificate Machine Shop Engineering
• National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering
• A minimum of 3 years post qualifying experience
• Ability to work shifts
• A must to have served apprenticeship as a Fitter Machinist and/or Fitter and Turner

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Safety and quality focused
• Experience with daily weekly, monthly, yearly adhoc maintenance schedule
• Ability to interpret mechanical and electrical drawings
• Ability to work on electrical repairs
• Time management skills
• Use of testing equipment to diagnose equipment breakdowns
• Excellent communication skills
