Job Description

Our client is seeking a dynamic and results oriented Finance and Operations Manager, to form part of the strategic team for the Medical Aid Fund Division.

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB

To provide financial reporting and management oversight for the organisation’s Medical Aid Fund in line with the strategic intent of the business, International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), Standard Operating Procedures and scheme rules.

Duties and Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ATTRIBUTES
 Financial Business Planning: To consolidate operational and financial plans for the Finance department and consolidate plans for presentation to the Board of Trustees.
 Budgeting & Financial Control: To prepare the Fund’s budgetary assumptions (contribution rates and tariffs) guided by the scheme rules and budgetary framework.
 Fund Performance: Monitors the financial performance of medical aid scheme in line with Fund rules, policies and international standards and makes recommendations to the Managing Director – Medical Aid.
 Stakeholder Relationships: Maintains stakeholder relationships by meeting members, service providers, banks and suppliers to improve stakeholder experience.
 Divisional & Statutory Reporting: Prepares the Fund Board Pack citing financial performance for the quarter and submits to the Managing Director for review.
 Management of Department: To develop the necessary plan/s to ensure the Finance department meets its agreed goals and objectives, meet staff on a pre-agreed basis, identify and agree performance areas, key objectives/tasks and action plans and evaluate staff performance strengths and deficiencies and arrange necessary action.
 Financial Acumen: To apply a broad understanding of Financial Management principles including Treasury and Working Capital Management and other quantitative information to ensure decisions are fiscally responsible and based on the procurement budget.
 Analytical Skills: To visualize, articulate, and solve complex problems and concepts and make decisions that make sense based on all available information.

Operations
 New Product Development: Provides insight into the development of new medical aid products and assess financial feasibility of new products.
 Medical Aid Products enhancement: Assess financial feasibility of products enhancement and liaise with Actuarial Specialist in benefit enhancement project.
 Business Development: Reviews membership contracts and recommends amendments and reviews proposed benefit limits and recommends financially viable options.

Qualifications and Experience

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
 Bachelor of Accounting Degree or equivalent
 Professional Accounting qualification – CIMA/CA/ACCA
 Experience in Finance: 6 – 8 Years
 4 years’ experience in Finance at supervisory level, Health Finance an added advantage
 Excellent verbal and written communication
 Detail-oriented with ability to plan and organise in the medium to long-term
 Excellent interpersonal skills
 Negotiation skills – ability to negotiate, interact and achieve targets
 Proficient in MS Office
