Role Profile
Campion Savings Club is seeking to recruit a Finance Officer based in Harare. Reporting to the General Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for managing the financial operations and administration of the Club, including accounting, budgeting, financial reporting, cash flow management, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, with a primary focus on maintaining the financial health and stability of the Club for its members.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Accurately recording all financial transactions, including member deposits, withdrawals, loans, interest payments, and other relevant activities.
• Maintaining accurate ledgers and subsidiary books to ensure proper financial records.
• Performing bank reconciliations to verify account balances.
• Preparing monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements.
• Developing and managing the Club’s operational budget in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
• Monitoring budget performance against actual expenses and identifying areas for cost optimization.
• Forecasting future financial trends and preparing financial projections.
• Ensuring adherence to all relevant financial regulations and accounting standards.
• Coordinating with external auditors to facilitate smooth audit processes.
• Maintaining proper documentation and records for regulatory compliance.
• Generating comprehensive financial reports for the Club’s board and management team.
• Analyzing financial data to identify trends, potential risks and opportunities for improvement.
• Providing leadership to the Finance and Administration team.
• Ensuring the Club’s assets and liabilities are safeguarded.
• Ensuring proper administration and security of the Club’s premises.
• Managing staff payrolls.
Job Skills and Competencies
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with members and stakeholders.
• Proficiency in accounting software, banking systems and data analysis tools.
• Understanding of SACCO principles and operations.
Qualification and Experience
• A first Degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline.
• A professional qualification in Accounting (CA, ACCA, CIMA, CFA) preferred.
• At least 5 years’ proven financial management experience in banking, financial services, cooperative financial institution or similar environment.
