1. Organisational Context
SolidarMed is an international development organisation, registered as a non-profit in Switzerland. Our work improves health care for over 2.5 million people in Kenya, Lesotho, Mozambique, South Africa, Tanzania, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
In Zimbabwe, SolidarMed is duly registered with the Government of the Republic of Zimbabwe as a Private Voluntary Organisation, with certificate number PVO/04/12. SolidarMed is a dynamic and flexible organisation with a clear vision to improve access to quality health care in rural communities. In Zimbabwe, it has a long-standing cooperation with the Ministry of Health and Child Care (MoHCC) and supports the National Health Strategy of Zimbabwe. Projects offer support through an integrated approach in areas of HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis, Adolescent Health, Non-Communicable Diseases (NCD), mental health and eHealth. SolidarMed are currently active in four districts of Masvingo Province, namely Zaka, Bikita, Chiredzi and Masvingo. SolidarMed is also active in conducting implementation research to produce evidence that guides interactions at provincial, national, and international levels.
2. Designation
The position is a Finance Officer for the SolidarMed Zimbabwe country office. The Finance Officer supports the successful management and implementation of SolidarMed Zimbabwe’s projects. The Finance Officer will be responsible for multitask responsibility on the projects, including acting as the focal person for all financial issues related to the country office, cash and financial management, and analysis of expenses. The position performs banking activities for the sub office. He / She is to ensure that SolidarMed financial policies, regulations and procedures are followed in all financial transactions and the review of travel advances, payment requests etc. He/She will also support the audit processes for the organization.
The post holder will report to the SolidarMed Support Unit (SSU) Manager. Indirectly, the post-holder will be relating to and working with different staff managers and staff and stakeholders within the organisation and beyond.
• Manage country office financial operations, including accounting, cash management, and banking activities for SolidarMed Zimbabwe projects.
• Review accounting documents, codifications, and ensure compliance with SolidarMed handbook procedures and chart of accounts.
• Process registrations, payment requests, petty cash, and advances accurately and on time, ensuring all packages are complete before submission.
• Oversee and monitor advances and travel expense reports and participate in monthly and annual closing processes.
• Provide technical support and capacity building in financial management and internal control for non-finance staff.
• Support administration and program teams regarding compliance, expenditure monitoring, and statutory calculation requirements.
• Ensure systematic archiving of accounting documents, assist in audits, and implement audit recommendations.
• Prepare and reconcile monthly staff pension funds, taxes, and inventory, support budget preparation and donor reporting.
• Promote the values and strategic goals of SolidarMed, acting as a key contributor to organizational culture and development.
• University degree in Accounting or Finance Management, or a combination of education and relevant experience.
• Minimum 3 years of progressively responsible experience in accounting, financial management (preferably within an INGO or related sector).
• Excellent analytical skills, knowledge of accounting standards and procedures, and proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
