Job Description

Local Authorities Pension Fund (The Fund) seeks to engage a dynamic, suitably qualified and experienced individual to fill the position of Finance Executive.
RESPONSIBILITY
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the incumbent will be responsible for the effective management of the Fund's finance functions, including preparation of financial statements, payment of pension benefits and other creditors, equities investment portfolio management and coordination of the Fund's budgetary process.

Duties and Responsibilities

KEY JOB FUNCTIONS
• Develop and implement the Fund's Finance Departmental strategy and budget, aligned to the overall corporate strategic objectives.
• Provide sound financial advice to the CEO, Board and management team.
• Formulate and implement effective short and long term financial management policies and plans.
• Oversee the timeous and accurate payment of pension benefit claims and other creditors.
• Coordinate and prepare the Fund's annual financial budget and any regular reviews.
• Oversee the timeous and accurate preparation of all financial statements, in line with best practices, accounting standards and pensions legislation.
• Develop, implement effective financial controls and ensure compliance with all statutory requirements as well as coordinate the Fund's annual audit programme, in consultation with internal and external auditors.
• Effective management of the equities investment portfolio.
• Effective supervision of subordinates aimed at achievement of set Departmental objectives QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Qualifications and Experience

The ideal candidate should possess the following minimum qualifications and experience:
• A relevant Finance/Accounting Degree.
• Professional qualification in Finance/Accounting related field (ACCA, CI MA, CIS).
• Relevant Master's Degree (MBA/MBL/Msc)
• At least six years' experience in the accounting/financial management. JOB RELATED ATTRIBUTES

* Good interpersonal, report writing and communication skills.
* Must be business oriented with proven track record in corporate financial management.
