Job Description

A local institution is looking for a qualified professional to take up the position of Finance and Administration Officer based in Harare, Zimbabwe.

The Finance and Administration Officer shall be responsible for managing a donor funded project, in line with the organisation's financial policies and procedures, meeting donor requirements, and ensuring the organisations' financial accountability and transparency.

Duties and Responsibilities

Key responsibilities

Preparing and presenting financial work plans for the Finance and Administration department.

Preparing financial reports for the institution, as directed by the Programme Manager.

Preparing organizational budgets.

Participating in the formulation of fundraising strategies for the organization

Setting up and developing financial systems to monitor the performance of the organization and taking expedient and effective action within delegated authority where required.

Ensuring that there are monthly and annual consolidated financial statements for the organization

Ensuring that monthly and annual consolidated financial statements for the organisation are prepared without undue delay.

Ensure that project’s financial administrative processes at the project location are auditable and efficient and carrying out financial administrative controls at project level

Qualifications and Experience

Qualifications
• The ideal candidate should hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting / Finance from a recognised University, a Masters Degree will be an added advantage.
• Possession of a Professional Qualification such as ACCA, CIMA, and CIS will be an added advantage
• Not less than five (5) years’ experience in an Accounting/Finance environment.
• Experience within the NGO sector is an added advantage.
• Ability to manage donor funds.
• Professional and emotional maturity required
• Ability to be a team member, essential
• Ability to work under minimum supervision and working long hours to meet strict deadlines required.
• Ability to understand, analyse, and interpret donor guidelines, financial reporting; Ability to present information effectively to top management, head of projects and partner organisations; Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions; Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects / tasks concurrently under deadline pressure and changing priorities; Problem solving mentality; Ability to exchange non-routine information using tact and persuasion as appropriate, requiring excellent oral and written communication skills; Financial analysis, financial reporting, cash flow analysis, budget development, and forecasting; Initiative; Proficiency in MS Office, financial software applications and reporting packages; Possess excellent organizational skills; NGO experience is an asset.
