Job Description

A local institution is looking for a student to take up the position of Finance and Administration Assistant based in Harare, Zimbabwe.

The Finance and Administration Assistant shall be responsible for assisting the Finance and Administration Officer and the entire team in executing a donor funded project, in line with the organisation's financial policies and procedures, meeting donor requirements, and ensuring the organisations' financial accountability and transparency.

Duties and Responsibilities

Assist in preparing and presenting financial work plans for the Finance and Administration department.

Assist in preparing financial reports for the institution, as directed by the Finance Manager.

Assist in preparing organizational budgets.

Participating in the formulation of fundraising strategies for the organization

Assist in ensuring that there are monthly and annual consolidated financial statements for the organization

Assist in ensuring that monthly and annual consolidated financial statements for the organization are prepared without undue delay.

Qualifications and Experience

• The ideal candidate should be studying towards a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting / Finance from a recognized university.
• Professional and emotional maturity required
• Ability to be a team member, essential
• Ability to work under minimum supervision and working long hours to meet strict deadlines required.
• Ability to understand, analyse, and interpret donor guidelines, financial reporting; Ability to present information effectively to top management, head of projects and partner organisations; Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions; Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects / tasks concurrently under deadline pressure and changing priorities; Problem solving mentality; Ability to exchange non-routine information using tact and persuasion requiring excellent oral and written communication skills; Financial analysis, financial reporting, cash flow analysis, budget development, and forecasting; Initiative; Proficiency in MS Office, financial software applications and reporting packages; Possess excellent organizational skills.
