Job Description

BACKGROUND
Mwenezi Development Training Centre [MDTC] is a community based organization operating in Mwenezi, Chiredzi and Beitbridge districts. MDTC implements diversified community development and humanitarian programmes which are funded by various funding partners. The organization has the following vacancies to implement a WFP funded programme (Lean Season Assistance) in Chiredzi and Mwenezi districts from October 2020 to April 2021. Therefore women and men with potential to be high performers are encouraged to apply for these challenging and exciting positions.

Duties and Responsibilities


Responsibilities and duties will include, but are not limited to the following:
Major Responsibilities
• Responsible for effective community mobilization and sensitization for Lean Season Assistance (LSA) programme activities in the assigned wards.
• Conduct field visits prior to any planed distribution of cash/food to ensure the minimum distribution standards as per distribution required standards.
• Adhere to weekly and monthly reporting deadlines as informed by the Field Supervisor
• Stakeholder coordination at ward level, working closely with ward-based government technical line ministries.
• Plan for all field monitoring activities monthly, before the beginning of any month and submit to the Field Supervisor.
• Guide enumerators during the registration process (where necessary) ensuring that people assisted registration has been conducted as per set standards.
• Conducting beneficiary selection and registration through the process of developing food insecurity indicators, their application, facilitating community ranking, validation of community ranking and finally registering selected people in SCOPE.
• Monitoring and reporting of LSA complimentary livelihoods activities, previous Food Assistance for Assets (FFA) projects sites, crop and livestock situation and markets monitoring in the assigned wards in assigned wards.
• Effective preparation for food and cash distributions in wards of operation
• Check quantities of food delivered at an FDP against waybill(s) and correctly sign and stamp the waybill(s).
• Conduct monthly food/cash distribution process monitoring, child growth and post distribution monitoring, analyze data and timeously submit monthly reports.
• Produce daily registration updates and SCOPE related issues.

Qualifications and Experience

Knowledge and skills
Excellent computer skills with experience in software packages such as SPSS, Ms Word, PowerPoint, Database & Ms Excel.
• Knowledge of utilizing WFP monitoring and evaluation tools.
• Experience in working with a local NGO in project implementation of cash/food assistance.
• Experience in working with Mwenezi Development Training Centre will be an added advantage.
• Experience in organizing and managing cash/food distribution processes is essential.
• Possession of class 3 or 4 driver’s license and ability to ride a motor bike is a requirement.
Education: First degree in Agriculture, Development studies, Food Security, Project Management, Gender studies, Nutrition, Business Management, Horticulture, Computer science or any other relevant degree.
Experience: Minimum 2 years of proven experience in NGO environment working with cash/food assistance programme beneficiaries.
