Job Description

The Zimbabwe Red Cross Society is implementing a Food security and livelihoods project in Gokwe District focusing on revamping food and agricultural systems negatively impacted by the COVID 19 pandemic. The Field Officer will be responsible for the overall rollout of economic strengthening and livelihood linked activities in selected wards within Gokwe District, ensuring project activities and milestones are well met. He/ She will lead project programming related to increasing agricultural production, increasing livelihood opportunities and formulating food insecurity mitigatory strategies. The Officer will work closely with District level government departments to offer technical support to Red Cross Volunteers and community-based facilitators in the implementation of food security and income generating projects.

Duties and Responsibilities

Roles and responsibilities:
• Directly implement in the field the activities defined in the program in close collaboration with the Project Coordinator;
• Work with community committees to ensure the identification and selection of the most vulnerable population and provide information to ensure accountability fairness and transparency during implementation of activities;
• Work closely with community structures to follow up on implementation of planned community activities, with the support from the Field Supervisor;
• Participate in the training and education of beneficiaries according to the project requirements;
• Facilitate provision of technical advice for the implementation of activities;
• Collect the required information in the field to facilitate the follow up of the project, with the support of the Project Coordinator;
• Collect information to ensure the surveillance of the Food Security situation in the area of implementation of the project, when required;
• Facilitate the evaluation of the project in the field, as required;
• Actively participate in assessments.
• Produce project activity reports as per reporting schedule or when needed;
• Report any changes in the context to allow for timely changes in the project activities

Other Responsibilities
• Actively work towards the achievement of the National Society Strategic Goals.
• Abide by and work in accordance with the Red Cross Fundamental principles
• Perform any other work-related duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications and Experience

Education:
A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Development Studies, Social Sciences and other related field from a recognized institution of learning.

Experience
• 2 years of relevant experience in community development focusing on sustainable livelihood approaches, drought mitigation, project monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning.
• The incumbent must demonstrate experience of working with communities in the development of agriculture and livelihood improvement projects.
• Familiarity with the humanitarian sector, distributions and cash and voucher programming.
