Job Description

A local nonprofit making organization is seeking a suitable person to fill the post of Field Animator / Volunteer. The organization is a national membership private voluntary organization that was formed in 1978, with the main goal of promoting, facilitating and supporting the achievement of socio-economic rights of women in Zimbabwe. It is registered by the Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare as a PVO (W.O.45/78) and has a membership of over 25 000 women countrywide. Since its inception, it has adopted a pluralistic, participatory, sustainable and holistic approach to women’s empowerment and development. Through its programmes in agriculture and food security, entrepreneurship and business development, capacity strengthening, research, information dissemination as well as advocacy and lobbying. The organization has contributed to policy changes and made a life-changing positive impact on thousands of households around Zimbabwe.

Duties and Responsibilities


KEY RESULT AREAS AND ACTIVITIES/TASKS
1. COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENTS
• Organizes meetings, workshops, trainings in target communities in order to raise awareness
• Facilitates in workshops and meetings
• Conducts exchange visits within districts
• Write reports for submission to line manager
• Mobilizes for membership within communities
• Organizes community exhibitions
2. STAKEHOLDER MANAGEMENT.
• Attends meetings at local authorities and councils
• Attends meetings organized by other development organisations on behalf of the organization
• Represents the organisation in stakeholder meetings
• Conducts familiarization visits with stakeholder
• Attends quarterly meetings at organisation level
3. PROJECT SUPPORT
• Facilitates for needs assessments and analysis in selected areas
• Raise awareness on funded and non-funded programming to communities
• Implements projects following head office approval
• Writes feedback reports
4. FINANCIAL MANAGEMET
• Collects and receipts membership subscriptions in communities
• Raises requests as per project requirements
• Makes acquittals
• Deposits / remits membership subscriptions to head office
• Receives loan repayments and makes deposits to Head Office
• Recommends loan beneficiaries in communities
• Keeps inventory of the organisation in the communities
5. SUPERVISION OF STAFF
• Supervises volunteers within communities
• Monitors team progress of project implementation
6. ORGANISATIONAL SUPPORT
• Carries out other duties assigned by superiors or management
7. VEHICLE LICENCE
• Clean class 4 drivers licence
• Ability to ride a motorbike (class 3) will be an added advantage – to provide proof

Qualifications and Experience

8. EDUCATION
• 5 O LEVELS including English Language
POST SCHOOL QUALIFICATIONS
• Certificate in Community Development or related
EXPERIENCE
• 2 to 3 years in community development or related field
