Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Farm Supervisor to oversee operations on a 400-hectare mixed farm located in Chegutu, Mashonaland West Province. The farm specializes in crops, livestock, poultry, fruits, and other agricultural enterprises.

The Farm Supervisor will be responsible for coordinating daily activities across all production units, ensuring efficient use of resources, maintaining high standards of farm management, and supervising farm workers. The role requires strong leadership, practical commercial farming knowledge, and the ability to implement modern agricultural practices to achieve productivity and sustainability goals.

Duties and Responsibilities

1) Farm Operations Management
* Oversee day-to-day operations across crops, livestock, poultry, fruits, and other enterprises.
* Plan, implement, and monitor production schedules to maximize yield and efficiency.
* Staff Supervision and Training
2) Lead, supervise, and motivate farm workers and supervisors.
* Provide training and guidance to ensure adherence to best farming practices and safety standards.
3) Resource and Asset Management
* Ensure proper use and maintenance of farm machinery, tools, and infrastructure.
* Manage inputs such as seeds, fertilizers, feed, and chemicals to optimize productivity.
3) Financial and Record Keeping
* Monitor budgets, costs, and farm expenditures.
* Maintain accurate records of production, sales, and inventory.
4) Quality and Compliance
* Ensure compliance with agricultural regulations, environmental standards, and health and safety requirements.
* Implement quality control measures across all farm enterprises.
5) Strategic Planning and Innovation
* Develop and execute strategies for sustainable growth and diversification.
* Introduce modern farming techniques and technologies to improve efficiency.
6) Reporting and Communication
* Report regularly to farm ownership/management on progress, challenges, and opportunities.
* Liaise with suppliers, buyers, and stakeholders to maintain strong business relationships.

Qualifications and Experience

* A degree or diploma in Agriculture, Agronomy, Animal Science, or a related field.
* Proven experience (minimum 5 years) in managing mixed farming operations, including crops, livestock, poultry, and horticulture at commercial level.
* Strong leadership and supervisory skills with the ability to manage teams effectively.
* Practical knowledge of modern farming techniques, mechanization, and sustainable agricultural practices.
* Sound financial management skills, including budgeting, cost control, and record keeping.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for liaising with workers, suppliers, and stakeholders.
* Ability to work under pressure, prioritize tasks, and meet production targets.
* Computer literacy and familiarity with farm management software will be an added advantage.
