Job Description
A Farm Supervisor is required for a livestock farming operation situated in Matopo. The Farm supervisor will run the day-to-day operations of the farm, supervise staff and drive the required changes and improvements to the goat breeding; pasture and livestock operations. The farm is currently undergoing significant expansion to become a major goat breeding facility within a three year period. The duration of the contract is from 1 October to December 2022
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Assign; supervises and coordinates workflow activities of stockman handling project breeding goats. In consultation with Farm manager to discuss equipment and supply needs, production and work schedules for Michview farm.
2. Ensure a safe working environment, humane treatment of animals, and environmentally responsible production methods.
3. Oversee examination, vaccination and treatment of goats, under supervision of a licensed veterinarian,
4. Regularly inspect equipment and farm structures to ensure proper functioning, and coordinate repairs and maintenance.
5. Prepares production reports, and requisitions equipment, materials, and supplies and share timeously with Farm Manager and Michview Management.
6. Shall report directly to the Farm Manager.
7. To perform any other duties assigned by the Management.
Qualifications and Experience
• Must be experienced with goat production and handling. The objective is to improve the goat operation by way of production numbers, genetics, and daily milk production,
• Must be experienced in both intensive rearing and pasture grazing management and have the ability to continually improve the productivity of pastures,
• The candidate should be experienced with all aspects of fencing, infrastructure works and equipment,
• The person should be fully accomplished in administration and goat documentation including data input and assessment.
• Academic qualifications in Agriculture and or Farm Management are an advantage.
