Job Description
We are urgently seeking seasoned mining/construction/engineering professionals for opportunities to work with international mining companies in the DRC for 12 month contracts.
Must be a Structural, Mechanical & Piping (SMPP) construction expert, must have international construction experience in managing construction of complex projects within the heavy industrial environment and processing plants.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Site Manager – Preferably, holding engineering degree (e.g. civil, mechanical). Must be familiar with international Codes and Compliance. Minimum 10 years’ experience preferably mining infrastructure related. Must have valid light vehicle car license.
• Project/Construction Scheduler - Minimum 10 years’ experience preferably mining infrastructure related. Must be able to setup and manage multiple project schedules.
• Onsite Store Co-Ordinator - Computer skills required and experienced in setting up systems to manage onsite stores including inventory, receiving, storing and issuing of equipment/materials. Minimum 10 years’ experience.
• Boiler Maker Supervisor - Must hold internationally accredited qualifications e.g. structural welding, pipe fitting, fabrication, must be drawing/documentation conversant, Able to control field as well as workshop environments, Minimum 10 years’ experience.
• Pipe Fitting Supervisor - Must hold internationally accredited qualifications e.g. welding, pipe fitting, fabrication, must be drawing/documentation conversant. Able to control field as well as workshop environments, Minimum 10 years’ experience.
• Mechanical Supervisor - Must be familiar with international Codes and Compliance, Minimum 10 years’ experience.
• Welding Supervisor - Must have knowledge of various material welding procedures etc. Able to control field as well as workshop environments, Minimum 10 years’ experience.
• Rigging Supervisor - Must have experience with fixed plant construction and maintenance, must be familiar with international Codes and Compliance including interpretation of Load Charts etc. minimum 8 years’ experience.
• Scaffolding Supervisor - Experience with fixed plant construction and maintenance. Must be familiar with international Codes and Compliance. Minimum 10 years’ experience.
• HDPE Pipe Fitting/Plastician Supervisor - Must hold internationally accredited qualifications e.g. welding, pipe fitting, fabrication, must be drawing/documentation conversant. Able to control field as well as workshop environments. Minimum 10 years’ experience.
• QA/QC Supervisor - Must hold internationally accredited qualifications e.g. welding, structural erection, fixed plant knowledge in line with ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineering) standards and certifications. Minimum 10 years’ experience.
• QA/QC Inspector - Must hold internationally accredited qualifications e.g. welding, structural erection, fixed plant knowledge in line with ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineering) standards and certifications. Minimum 8 years’ experience.
• Boilermaker - Must hold internationally accredited qualifications e.g. structural welding, pipe fitting, fabrication, must be drawing/documentation conversant, Minimum 5 years’ experience.
• Pipefitter - Must hold internationally accredited qualifications e.g. welding, pipe fitting, fabrication, must be drawing/documentation conversant. Minimum 5 years’ experience.
• HDPE Pipefitter/Plastician - Must hold internationally accredited qualifications e.g. welding, pipe fitting, fabrication, must be drawing/documentation conversant. Minimum 5 years’ experience.
• Welder - Experience with fixed plant construction and maintenance and familiar with international Codes and Compliance. Minimum 5 years’ experience.
• Rigger - Must poses all relevant qualifications and certifications, must have experience with fixed plant construction and maintenance, must be familiar with international Codes and Compliance including interpretation of Load Charts etc. Minimum 5 years’ experience.
• Scaffolder - Experience with fixed plant construction and maintenance. Must be familiar with international Codes and Compliance including interpretation of Load Charts etc. Minimum 5 years’ experience.
• Logistics Co-Ordinator - Must have experience with large project logistic measures and controls. Africa experience essential. Minimum 8 years’ experience. Must have valid light vehicle car license.
• Trades Assistant - Construction experience essential. Experience with fixed plant construction and maintenance. Minimum 3 years’ experience for each trade.
• Safety Officer - Must have relevant qualifications. Capable of driving site wide safety across multiple construction areas. Minimum 5 years’ experience.
Qualifications and Experience
General Requirements
Education: Must have completed a Bachelors Degree. Honours or Masters will be a strong advantage.
Experience: Minimum at least 8-10 years preferably in an international organization or a large firm is required.
Language: Strong communication skills in English language. Basic to intermediate communication in French is a strong advantage. Other international languages will be considered an advantage
For senior position: Capacity and efficiency in leading teams, problem solving and working under extreme pressure. Must have a track record of achievement in previous roles. 12+ years overall experience
