AFRODAD is a Pan-African civil society organisation established in 1996 for evidence-based policy
advocacy on debt and sustainable development in Africa at the global, Africa regional and sub-regional,
and national levels. The mission is to contribute to Africa’s inclusive growth and sustainable
development through influencing policy on debt and development finance anchored on a rights-based
approach. Current focus areas are sovereign debt management, domestic resources mobilisation,
international private and public finance and legal analysis and advocacy.
Strategic Leadership: Drive the development and implementation of AFRODAD’s Strategic Plan
2027-2030.
• Technical Oversight: Provide high-level guidance on AFRODAD focus areas namely, Sovereign
Debt Management, Domestic Resource Mobilisation, and International Public/Private Finance
and Legal advocacy.
• Resource Mobilisation: Lead fundraising efforts and nurture relationships with donors and
partners to ensure long-term organisational sustainability.
• Movement Building: Continue to build and empower African citizens (“Right Holders”) to
enable their engagement with African Governments and intergovernmental institutions (“Duty
Bearers”) for accountable and transparent debt management.
• People & Culture: Foster a consultative, ethical work environment that prioritises collaboration,
accountability, and the development of technical teams.
• Governance: Work directly and proactively with the Board of Trustees to ensure legal
compliance, fiscal integrity, and sound governance.
Education: At minimum, a Master’s Degree in Social Science, International Development,
Economics, or a related field.
• Leadership: Proven experience as an Executive Director or equivalent or in a senior
managerial role within a regional or international NGO.
• Academic Grounding: Strong background in African political economy and Pan-African
scholarship.
• Advocacy: Experience in policy influence and multi-level stakeholder engagement across
Africa.
• Ethics: Unwavering commitment to accountability, transparency, and ethical decision-making.
