Job Description
Position: Environmental Technician Eia & Ecosystems Protection (1 post)
Station: Head Office
Reporting to the Environmental Officer - EIA & Ecosystems Protection the job incumbent will be responsible for coordinating the EIA and Ecosystems Protection information systems in order to facilitate the planning and execution of all developmental activities in Zimbabwe on sound environmental principles.
Duties and Responsibilities
Duties and Responsibilities;
• Inspects environmental projects and gives post-monitoring certification.
• Conducts EIA reviews including desk studies and field visits.
• Conducts site visits and inspects areas that are prone to violations and issues tickets and orders for environmental violations.
• Conducts Environmental bi-annual audits.
• Updates the E IA and Prospectus registers.
Qualifications and Experience
• Processes licences for approved projects and Consultants.
• Creates quotations and orders.
• Reviews EIA costing and prepares Memos for approval.
• Records and allocates prospectus project numbers and EIAs.
• Produces minutes and letters for the reviewed documents.
• Compiles weekly reports.
• Manages the database of all environmental impact
assessments and ecosystems protection documents.
• Tracks EIA documents and ensures they are reviewed and responded within the expected turn around period.
Qualification, Experience and Competences:
• Diploma in Environmental Management, Geography and Environmental Sciences, Natural Resources Management, Chemical Engineering, Mining, Biotechnology, Civil Engineering or any other relevant qualification from a recognized institution.
• At least one (1) year experience in the field.
• Good reading skills.
• Good analytical skills.
