Job Description

We are looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Enterprise Risk and Corporate Governance Graduate Trainee to join our organisation. The successful applicant will, among other key duties, be responsible for:

Duties and Responsibilities

• Assisting in developing, maintaining, and tracking enterprise and corporate governance risk registers.
• Assisting in ensuring compliance with the Public Entities Corporate Governance Act to mitigate corporate governance risks.
• Assisting in proactively and timely monitoring, identifying, and communicating risks before they emerge.
• Assisting in assessing legal, governance, and compliance risks to measure and determine organizational exposure and recommending measures to mitigate risks.
• Assisting in executing the enterprise risk management workplan to support effective implementation of risk management.
• Assisting in advising management on compliance with laws and regulations through preparation of risk reports.
• Assisting in determining corporate governance risk metrics and maintaining the risk register.
• Assisting in managing action plans in response to legal and corporate governance matters arising from strategic business units.
• Assisting in reviewing the organization’s procedures, practices, and documents to identify emerging risks.
• Assisting in ensuring compliance with tax, legal, and good governance practices.
• Assisting in tracking and ensuring timeous resolution of pending legal matters.
• Assisting in developing, implementing, and maintaining legal compliance and litigation trackers for the organization.
• Assisting in conducting research on relevant legal and corporate governance matters.
• Assisting in implementing the compliance improvement plan by supporting the management of technical risks in legal and corporate services.
• Assisting in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts for the organization.
• Assisting in coordinating with stakeholders, including external auditors, on legal and corporate matters.
• Assisting in preparing annual governance reports and supporting the Annual General Meeting processes.
• Assisting in ensuring accurate classification and disclosure of contingent liabilities, litigations, and claims in the annual report.
• Assisting in preparing and submitting risk reports on a weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual basis, and other reports as may be required.
• Performing any other duties as may be assigned.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in business Administration/Risk management/Governance Law or equivalent.
• Relevant Professional Qualification in Corporate Governance/Certified Risk Management/FRM/CERM/ is an added advantage.
• At least 1-year work experience.
