While many of its implications, such as confinement-related psychological distress and social distancing measures, affect all of society, young people experience these impacts in distinct ways as they must cope with disruptions in education, mental health issues brought about by lockdown uncertainties as well as disruptions in accessing health services particularly HIV and SRH services. Violence, teenage pregnancies, and substance abuse has generally been found to increase in the face of pandemics.
