Job Description

JOB TITLE: ELECTRICIAN
JOB TYPE: CONTRACT (12 MONTHS)
REPORTING TO: CHARGEHAND
SUBORDINATES: ELECTRICAL ASSISTANT *1
PURPOSE
To ensure the safe and efficient operation of all electrical systems and equipment within
the Agrifoods (Pvt) Ltd facility. This includes performing electrical repairs, preventative
maintenance, root cause analysis, and troubleshooting, inclusive of PLC systems. The
Electrician will work under the direction of the Chargehand or Plant Engineer and will also
be responsible for guiding and training a Trainee Electrician.

Duties and Responsibilities

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. MAINTENANCE AND REPAIRS
Carry out planned preventative maintenance, routine checks, and repairs on various
electrical equipment and systems, including but not exclusive to:
-Feed production lines (motors, control panels, wiring, sensors, limit switches, etc.)
-Pellet mill electrical systems
-Boilers (electrical controls and instrumentation)
-Air compressors (motors, controls)
-Weighbridges and scales (electrical components and load cells)
-Rail and road intake electrical systems
-Grain silos (electrical controls and monitoring)
-Bag stacking conveyors (motors, controls)
-Dust aspiration system (motors, controls, sensors)
-Buhler PLC systems (electrical interfaces and components)
-Expander line (motors, controls, sensors)
-Plant lighting and power distribution systems
Perform routine maintenance on Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), diagnose
and troubleshoot PLC-related faults, and make necessary adjustments as required.
Assist with the installation of new electrical equipment and wiring as per
specifications and safety standards.
Conduct electrical testing and inspections to identify potential problems, ensure
compliance with safety regulations, and verify the functionality of electrical systems
after repairs or installations.
Perform root cause analysis, diagnose, and resolve electrical faults and breakdowns
in a timely and efficient manner, minimizing downtime.
Active involvement in energy conservation plans.
2. COLLABORATION AND REPORTING
Work effectively with other maintenance team members and the production team to
ensure smooth operation of the plant.
Maintain accurate records of work performed, including maintenance logs, repair
reports, and any findings during inspections. Document any changes or
modifications made to electrical systems.
Ensure correctness and completeness of job card records for assigned tasks.
Report any major electrical issues, recurring problems, or potential safety hazards
to the Chargehand or Plant Engineer.
Provide guidance, instruction, and on-the-job training to the electrical assistant,
ensuring they develop the necessary electrical skills and knowledge. Assign tasks
and monitor their progress.
3. SAFETY AND COMPLIANCE
Follow all electrical safety regulations, codes, and company SOPs while
performing maintenance tasks.
Ensure proper lockout/tagout procedures are followed.
Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
Operate and maintain various electrical test equipment (e.g., multi-meters,
insulation testers, clamp meters) safely and effectively.
Maintain a clean and organized work area in the workshop and on the plant floor
after completing tasks.

Qualifications and Experience

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
Proficient in PLC troubleshooting, electrical repairs, and system installations.
Skilled in using diagnostic tools and maintaining a wide range of industrial
electrical systems.
Proficient in root cause analysis and resolving of faults to minimize equipment
downtime.
In depth knowledge of electrical safety standards and PPE protocols.
Good collaboration and communication skills.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
A minimum of 5 O’ Levels including Mathematics & English.
Trade Tested Electrician or equivalent Electrical Engineering qualification.
Industrial electrical maintenance experience, preferably in manufacturing or
agro-processing.
At least 2 years of hands-on experience with:
PLC systems (e.g. Buhler)
Electrical systems in production equipment (e.g. motors, control panels,
sensors)
7. Use of electrical test instruments (mult-imeters, insulation testers, etc)
