The Electrical Engineer is responsible for the design, operation, maintenance, and optimization of all electrical systems within the Waste-to-Energy (WtE) plant. The role ensures safe, reliable, and efficient performance of electrical infrastructure supporting power generation, waste processing, and energy recovery operations.
1. Operations & Maintenance
Oversee daily operation and maintenance of electrical systems, including generators, transformers, switchgear, motors, and control panels.
Monitor electrical equipment performance to ensure plant reliability and efficiency.
Conduct troubleshooting and root cause analysis of electrical faults and implement corrective actions.
2. Design & Projects
Support the design, installation, and commissioning of new electrical systems or plant modifications.
Develop electrical schematics, control diagrams, and single-line diagrams for plant systems.
Collaborate with contractors and consultants on electrical upgrades and automation projects.
3. Compliance & Safety
Ensure compliance with national electrical codes, environmental, and health & safety regulations.
Conduct risk assessments and ensure all electrical works adhere to safe operating procedures.
Maintain accurate documentation of electrical systems, maintenance logs, and inspection reports.
4. Energy Efficiency & Optimization
Implement energy-saving measures to improve plant electrical efficiency and reduce operational costs.
Support integration of renewable energy technologies and advanced control systems.
Participate in performance testing, calibration, and optimization of control systems (SCADA, PLCs).
5. Team Collaboration
Work closely with mechanical, instrumentation, and process engineers to support cross-disciplinary projects.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to maintenance technicians and apprentices.
Support emergency response and plant shutdown/start-up activities.
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (BEng or equivalent).
Registered/eligible for registration with a professional engineering, or equivalent).
Minimum 5 years of experience in a power generation, waste-to-energy, or heavy industrial plant environment.
Strong knowledge of power distribution systems, motor control, PLC/SCADA systems, and industrial automation.
Experience with high voltage (HV) and low voltage (LV) systems, electrical protection relays, and instrumentation.
