Job Description

Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced candidates to fill the following vacancies that have arisen at Bindura University of Science Education

CENTRE FOR EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGIES INNOVATION AND DESIGN

Duties and Responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities

The applicant will be required to provide day to day support, pre-semester setup and training in the use of LMS, other educational technologies and services provided by CETID;
Provide day to day support and troubleshooting for the various teaching and learning technologies used by the University;
Diagnose and resolve problems and or provide timely escalation for problem details to learning Technologies and Systems administration team for resolution;
Respond to end-user requests and resolve problems raised by users of deployed systems and technology tools;
Work with the other Unit teams to develop and manage electronic educational content in a variety of systems: MOODLE, Google Applications, Lecture Capture and any other new systems;
Coordinate creation and implementation of course shells with MOODLE administration and assists Faculty members with creation of course content;
Develop user guides, how-to’s, frequently asked questions, best practice manuals, standard troubleshooting procedures e.t.c;
Provide support for course and peer evaluation system.

Qualifications and Experience

Applicants should have Higher National Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Education with Technology, or other disciplines involving substantial training in the applications of technology to education;
Demonstrable experience in education with an exposure to training, technology integration or ICT user support, Microsoft Office Applications and other web application and development tools;
Demonstrable experience in developing online content using a variety of Internet and multimedia development tools (for example, Dreamweaver, HTML, Photoshop, Flash, Wikis, Blogs, Second Life etc);
Working knowledge of supporting learning and or content management systems such as Moodle, Sakai or Google Classroom;
Experience with PCs, mobile devices and servers, as well as a wide variety of software applications;
Experience working with Faculty, Support staff, and students, preferably in a higher education set up is also required;
Online learning experience as a student or instructor and experience using educational interactive multimedia, simulations and games and very strong interpersonal communication skills is a must;
Experience in implementing a Helpdesk system is an added advantage.
