Position Description
Job Title: Drone Applications Contract Lecturer (5 months)
Reporting to: HOD Business Development and Innovation
Closing Date: 3 August 2026
Location: Bulawayo
Duties and Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering lectures and practical training in Drone
Applications and related disciplines, including Geomatics, Surveying, GIS, and Remote Sensing. The
incumbent will conduct applied research using Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) for applications such
as volumetric surveys, slope stability monitoring, and environmental compliance, while acquiring,
processing, analysing, and interpreting geospatial data using photogrammetry software (e.g. Pix4D,
Agisoft Metashape) and LiDAR technologies. The role also includes supervising student projects and
fieldwork, ensuring safe and compliant UAV operations, contributing to curriculum development and
research initiatives, and performing any other duties as may be assigned by the Head of Department.
Qualifications and Experience
Minimum Qualifications:
BSc in Geomatics, Surveying, GIS, Remote Sensing, or Geospatial Engineering.
Valid Remote Piloting license with instructor rating
Hands-on experience in UAV piloting and data processing.
Studying towards an MSc/PhD in a relevant field is an added advantage.
A minimum of 2 years experience in similar role..
