Job Description

Bantwana Zimbabwe (BZ) is seeking experienced candidate(s) for the role of District Economic Strengthening and Education Assistants for a USAID-funded project to reduce the vulnerability of orphans and vulnerable children (OVC), and adolescent girls and young women (AGYW) to HIV and GBV. BZ is a leader in the development of high quality, comprehensive OVC service delivery in high HIV prevalence districts in Zimbabwe. BZ brings a significant track record of excellence and innovation in improving access to and quality of integrated OVC care and support, with a particular focus on strengthening coordination and layering of care, protection and support services across the HIV continuum of response, for vulnerable children and their caregivers at community, district, provincial and national levels.
The District Economic Strengthening and Education Assistant will be responsible for overseeing all economic strengthening and education interventions, using a case management approach to offer high-impact, scalable, and sustainable interventions, working as part of a team with other district stakeholders.

Duties and Responsibilities

Design, implement and monitor sound technical strategies and interventions targeting OVCs.
Lead in the implementation of economic strengthening and education interventions under the Stable and Schooled domain.
Supervise and coordinate activities of community cadres in the stable and schooled domain.
Work with the Ministry of Women Affairs, Community Small and Medium Enterprises Development in the implementation of Economic Strengthening interventions.
Work with the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education in the implementation of education interventions.
Work with the Department of Social Welfare and other stakeholders in providing comprehensive case management services, ensuring the child’s future safety, wellness and general welfare risks are managed.
Ensure quality services are provided and minimum standards are maintained guided by the standard operating procedures.
Support the effective implementation of program activities including the development of work plans and timely reporting
Ensure accurate records of all correspondence & activities are maintained, including individual case records, in accordance with the case management protocol.

Qualifications and Experience

At least a Degree Development Studies, Social Science or related field.
At least two years of experience working in an NGO.
Experience with economic strengthening and education interventions for OVCs/AGYW preferred.
Relevant Experience with bi-directional clinical referrals/HIV service provider linkages for vulnerable populations is a requirement.
Excellent writing skills.
Good communication skills and ability to communicate in the local and national languages.
Computer skills with expertise in PowerPoint, Word, Excel.
