Duties and Responsibilities
• Formulating and driving enterprise development strategy in line with the University's mandate and national economic development priorities;
• Identifying, incubating, and growing viable business ventures, income-generating projects, and strategic partnerships under the RIBI portfolio;
• Providing executive leadership to enterprise units, ensuring profitability, sustainability, and good corporate governance;
• Overseeing budgeting, financial performance, and risk management across all enterprise units, in liaison with the Registrar's Office;
• Leading negotiations with investors, government agencies, and development partners;
• Representing the Enterprise Development unit before University Council and other governance structures, as directed by the Pro Vice-Chancellor; and
• Reporting to the Pro Vice-Chancellor (RIBI) and providing strategic updates to the Vice-Chancellor as required.
Qualifications and Experience
Qualifications
Applicants must have at least a Master's in Business Administration or equivalent and a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Economics, Entrepreneurship, or equivalent plus a minimum of 8–10 years' relevant experience, with at least 5 years at senior/executive management level. A Membership with a relevant professional body (e.g., IoDZ – Institute of Directors Zimbabwe) is an advantage. The member should have a demonstrable track record in business turnaround, enterprise growth, or investment mobilization, strong strategic leadership, negotiation, financial management, and corporate governance skills. The incumbent must also possess sound understanding of university governance structures (Council, Senate, and the Office of the Registrar) and public enterprise regulations and a Clean Class 4 driver's licence.
