Job Description

At Zvandiri, there are over 3000 peer counsellors delivering up to date, evidence-based, counselling services for 96,000 children and adolescents living with HIV across Zimbabwe and the region. We use a digital app to support them to deliver these services. It is time to update our existing app in line with the growing roles and responsibilities of Zvandiri peer counsellors. We’re looking for a talented, creative application developer to lead the development of a high quality, youth-friendly app. If you have the skills to developing an innovative solution for peer-led digital health for young people, we’d love to hear from you.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Work with the Zvandiri team, including young people, to understand the needs and experience of Zvandiri peer counsellors and the app’s purpose
• Collaborate with Zvandiri to develop the app’s specifications and conceptual design, including integration of Zvandiri resource materials
• Build and test the mobile application
• Build and develop an admin panel
• Thoroughly document the app’s development process so it can be effectively supported and maintained
• Register and manage developer accounts on Google Play and Apple Store to publish the app and manage registrations for using the app.
• Train Zvandiri’s digital support team to manage the app

Qualifications and Experience

• First degree and certifications in languages such as JavaScript, Oracle Java ME, Android,
• Proven experience as an application developer
• Ability to program in at least one programming language (e.g. JavaScript or Python)
• Deep understanding of core programming principles, including design
• Ability to work with young people to develop solutions responsive to their needs
• Critical and analytical thinking skills
• Keen attention to detail
• Excellent time management

Preferred Qualifications
• Proficiency with project tracking software, such as Jira
• Certification in application development
• Experience working as part of a development team
• Strong communication skills
• Project management experience
