Job Description

We are a dynamic and safety-driven Kwekwe based organization operating in the mining sector. We are committed to developing the next generation of skilled artisans. We are currently seeking a motivated and eager Diesel Plant Fitter Attaché to join our engineering team. This is an excellent opportunity to gain practical, hands-on experience in a real-world industrial environment while working alongside seasoned professionals.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Assisting with Maintenance and Repairs: Support senior fitters in performing routine servicing, fault-finding, and minor repairs on diesel engines, generators, compressors, and associated plant equipment.
2. Conducting Basic Inspections: Participate in daily and weekly equipment inspections, learning to identify early signs of wear, leaks, or mechanical defects, and report findings to the supervisor.
3. Housekeeping and Safety Compliance: Maintain a clean and organized workshop area. Adhere strictly to all safety protocols, including the correct use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and lock-out/tag-out procedures.
4. Workshop Support: Prepare tools, components, and parts for maintenance tasks. Assist with stripping, cleaning, and assembling mechanical components under guidance.
5. Documentation and Record-Keeping: Assist in logging maintenance activities, updating service schedules, and recording parts usage in the maintenance management system.
6. Learning and Development: Actively participate in on-the-job training, ask questions, and demonstrate a willingness to learn new techniques and technologies in diesel plant fitting.

Qualifications and Experience

Must be a registered student actively pursuing a National Certificate or a Diploma in Diesel Plant Fitting / Mechanical Engineering (Diesel), from a recognized Technical and Vocational Education and Training Institution.
Must be due for a practical work placement (internship/attaché) as part of your curriculum and able to provide a formal letter from your institution confirming this requirement.
Basic understanding of diesel engine principles, hydraulic systems, and mechanical drawings.
