Job Description

Despite the valuable contributions of mining to the socio-economic development of Zimbabwe, the minerals and natural resources have caused conflicts within the mining regions in Zimbabwe. Evidence from research has identified the following conflicts - farmer and miner conflicts; community and miner; miner and miner conflicts. The Conflict comes with a number of human rights violations that can result in loss of property, livestock and sometimes lives. A local NGO is looking for a consultant to develop a conflict resolution manual and toolkit will address the multi-layered conflicts in the mining sector such as the farm-miner conflicts, miner-miner conflicts, community -miner conflicts. The manual will be used by used by community members and stakeholder to address issues arising in the different operational areas.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Consultant is expected to:
• Develop a manual on conflict resolution
• Sensitize the organizational staff on the use of the manual

Qualifications and Experience

The consultant must have the following
• Have at least five years experience in conflict resolution,
• Exhibit understanding of the mining sector and the conflict in the sector
• Have and share sample conflict manual that has been developed before
