DESIGNATED AGENT
The Main Purpose of the Job
The Designated Agent shall be certified by the Registrar of Labour on appointment by the NEC and will be responsible for promoting and maintaining sound industrial harmony in the Undertaking. The position reports to the General Secretary.
Outline of Key Responsibilities and Duties
• Advice both the employer party and employee party in relation to their employment rights/obligations or interest.
• Investigate and report on applications for exemption, retrenchment, or short time work.
• Investigate complaints from Undertaking and write reports.
• Resolution of all labour disputes.
• Promoting, monitoring and enforcing compliance with the collective bargaining agreement through inter alia inspections.
• Maintaining a database for industry employees.
• Facilitate elections of worker’s committees.
• Conduct training of stakeholders.
• Perform relevant administrative duties and any other duties as will be assigned.
Qualifications and Experience
The ideal candidate should have the following qualifications and relevant experience:
• Degree in Human Resources Management or Social Sciences from a reputable University.
• Diploma/Certificate in Labour Law, Conciliation and Arbitration would be an added.
• A minimum of 5 years’ proven experience in the Labour Relations field.
• A clean class 4 driver’s licence and at least two years driving experience.
