Deputy Registrar, Human Resources (1 Post)

Reporting to the Registrar

Scope of the job

The Deputy Registrar, Human Resources will oversee development of Human Resources strategies and provide sound advice to the Registrar on all Human Resources Management aspects. The incumbent will partner Management in aligning Human Resources Strategies to the overall Corporate strategy. The Deputy Registrar, Human Resources will be responsible for the strategic management of human resources, policies and activities within the University.

Duties and Responsibilities

Main Duties and Responsibilities

1. Managing proactive acquisition, retention and development of human resources necessary for organizational success;
2. Identifying and facilitating investment in human resources development;
3. Partnering Management to ensure alignment of Human Resources strategies to the overall Corporate strategy;
4. Providing strategic support to Management, Faculties, Departments and Units to ensure harmonious employment relations that promote staff welfare and high productivity;
5. Undertaking periodic review and interpretation of Human Resources Policies and Procedures;
6. Developing and implementing human resource information and competency based systems;
7. Assisting the Registrar in initiating and reviewing policies pertaining to staff conditions of service;
8. Conducting remuneration surveys and working closely with the Registrar on the on-going change process of the University;
9. Overseeing the University’s performance management system (planning, monitoring and evaluation)
10. Servicing various University committees pertaining to human resources function in general; and
11. Undertaking any other duties as and when required by the Registrar.

Qualifications and Experience

Qualifications and Work experience

1. Master of Science in Human Resources Management/Master of Business Administration/Master of Social Sciences or equivalent;
2. Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources Management, Social Sciences, Humanities or Business Administration;
3. Possession of a Diploma in Human Resources Management/Employment Relations/Human Resources Development from professional bodies such as Institute of People Management of Zimbabwe (IPMZ);
4. Membership of a relevant professional board such as Institute of People Management of Zimbabwe (IPMZ) is a pre requisite; and
5. Five (5) years relevant post qualification experience in a Human Resources Management field; and
6. Managerial experience in a Human Resources Management field will be an added advantage.
