Job Description

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Creditors Controller to join our team. The successful applicant will be responsible for the following key duties:

Duties and Responsibilities

• Developing and monitoring the credit control system in collaboration with sales and marketing, finance, and Executive team members.
• Maintaining policies that follow customer service best practices while ensuring customers submit payments on time.
• Checking customers’ credit reports, approving or declining applications and communicate decisions to the appropriate personnel in a timely manner.
• Negotiating payment plans with customers and setting credit terms and conditions in line with Credit Policy.
• Maintaining credit records.
• Conducting regular analysis of the credit -control system and implementing changes as needed to reduce bad debts.
• Reporting any payment issues to management or the appropriate team.
• Following up on overdue invoices and payments and putting into effect company collection procedures as necessary.
• Looking for ways to improve debt collection processes.
• Recording incoming payments into the accounting system.
• Reviewing and approving customer requests for credit.
• Communicating with department managers on outstanding accounts Receivable balances
• Effecting recoveries of Staff Loans and Staff Debtors from Travel and Subsistence advances not acquitted in line with Policy.
• Reconciling bank account entries.
• Any other Duties assigned.

Qualifications and Experience

• Master of Science in Accounting
• Degree in Accounting or equivalent.
• A professional accounting qualification e.g. CA, CIMA, ACCA and /or CPA is an added advantage.
• At least 5 years related work experience.
