The Credit Department aims to build capacity among staff to ensure sound credit analysis, appraisal, administration, and arrears management. •Solicit and originate quality credit applications through approved communication and engagement channels, ensuring all loan applications meet the required documentation standards in line with the credit policy and regulatory requirements.
•Conduct thorough client visits to collect, validate, and confirm all information supporting the loan application, ensuring data integrity and compliance with the bank’s credit criteria.
• For individual clients, perform detailed affordability and income assessments to ensure the client’s repayment capacity aligns with policy, legal, and employer requirements.
• For business or institutional clients, conduct comprehensive financial, quantitative, and qualitative analyses — including assessment of financial statements, cash flows, and business models — to determine repayment capacity and creditworthiness.
• Prepare high-quality credit appraisal reports and proposals in accordance with the Credit Policy and Procedures Manual, supported by robust financial analysis and risk assessment.
• Present and defend credit proposals before the relevant credit approval authorities, providing adequate documentation and rationale to support recommendations.
• Explain approved loan terms and conditions to clients, ensure full execution of all required legal and security documentation, and oversee perfection of securities before disbursement.
• Ensure timely and compliant disbursement or drawdown of loans in line with approval terms.
• Monitor post-disbursement loan performance within assigned portfolio using data analysis tools (including Excel), identify early warning signals, and engage clients promptly to mitigate potential credit deterioration.
• Effectively manage arrears through proactive client engagement, restructuring recommendations, and enforcement of recovery strategies in line with policy and regulatory requirements.
• Prepare, maintain, and submit periodic exception and arrears management reports, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of portfolio reporting.
• Escalate and hand over delinquent accounts as per policy guidelines for recovery action, maintaining full documentation of all actions taken.
• Maintain strong client relationships through consistent portfolio reviews, superior service delivery, and relationship management strategies that enhance retention and portfolio quality.
• Collaborate with business development teams to ensure that all sourced business meets the institution’s credit quality standards and contributes to sustainable portfolio growth.
• Support market intelligence and research efforts by providing insights from client interactions, portfolio trends, and credit risk patterns.
• Promote the bank’s products and services to qualified clients, emphasizing responsible lending practices and portfolio quality over volume.
• Client Engagement: Professional relationship management with a focus on communication, transparency, and long-term client success.
Bachelor’s Degree in Banking & Finance, Finance and Investments, Economics, Statistics, or related quantitative field.
• Experience in credit administration, loan appraisal, or credit risk management within a financial institution.
• Demonstrated experience in loan performance monitoring, arrears management, and financial statement analysis.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other analytical tools used in credit evaluation and reporting.
• Strong understanding of banking regulations, credit policy, and risk control frameworks.
• Professional certifications in Credit Analysis, Risk Management, or Banking (an added advantage).
