Job Description
Job Title: Core Banking (Mifos) Data Engineering & BI Specialist (Microbank)
Location: Harare, Zimbabwe | Job Type: Full-time
About Our Client: Our client in the financial services sector is seeking a highly skilled Core Banking Systems Administrator & Business Intelligence Specialist to join their team. Reporting directly to the Chief Information Officer (CIO), this role serves as the primary technical custodian of the core banking platform (Mifos/Fineract) and leads enterprise data engineering, workflow automation, and management reporting solutions.
Duties and Responsibilities
● Core Banking Administration & Customisation: Administer, configure, and optimize the Mifos core banking platform; directly customize source code (Java/Spring Boot), and build automated workflow controls, triggers, and approval matrices.
● Systems Integration: Design, build, and maintain robust API-based integrations connecting Mifos to mobile/internet banking, payment gateways, national switches, MNOs, CRBs, AML/KYC tools, and regulatory platforms.
● Data Engineering & Governance: Build and maintain enterprise ETL/ELT pipelines, data warehouses, and data marts; implement data quality controls, validation routines, and reconciliation frameworks.
● Business Intelligence & Reporting: Develop automated reporting solutions and executive dashboards using Power BI, SQL, and DAX for the Board, Exco, ALCO, and Regulatory bodies.
● Process Automation & Security: Automate manual business workflows, exception monitoring, and policy enforcement; enforce role-based access controls, maintain audit logs, and support cybersecurity resilience.
Qualifications and Experience
Qualifications & Requirements:
● Education: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Data Science, or a related technology discipline. Postgraduate qualifications or Mifos/Cloud/Data certifications are an advantage.
● Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in Core Banking Systems administration, with at least 3 years directly developing and customizing Mifos (Apache Fineract) source code within financial services.
● Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in Mifos/Fineract, Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, SQL, PostgreSQL, Power BI (DAX & Power Query), ETL pipelines, and Data Warehousing. Qualifications & Requirements:
