Background
In order to address the impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic, which has had far fetching effects on the country’s ability to tackle climate change and implement climate related policies and strategies, the Government of Zimbabwe through the Ministry of Environment, Climate, Tourism and Hospitality Industry with support from FBC Bank Limited applied for financial resources from the Green Climate Fund (GCF) for the Green Resilient Recovery (GRR) Readiness Support project. The proposed GCF Green Resilient Rapid Readiness Support in Zimbabwe project will have the following expected outcomes:
a) Ensure that national plans are sensitive and responsive to COVID-19 related situations and continue to enhance climate resilience and mitigation action.
b) Development of one Green Resilient Recovery Strategy to respond to COVID-19 and similar pandemics developed in line with national recovery plans.
c) Development of financial models for implementation of the priority interventions in the Green Resilient Recovery Strategy

Duties and Responsibilities


Duties
• The Project Assistant will report to the Project Coordinator based at FBC Holdings Limited who will manage the project on behalf of the
Ministry of Environment, Climate, Tourism and Hospitality Industry. The specific tasks will include:
• Facilitate and support the day-to-day coordination of readiness activities; responsible for the timely delivery of all project outputs;
• Assist with administrative and logistical work, financial management and compliance
• Act as the Secretariat of the Project Management Unit(PMU) and Project Steering Committee (PSC) organizing all aspects of the PMU and PSC meetings.
• Record the minutes of the proceedings at each PMU and PSC meeting convened.
• Assist in the coordination of stakeholder engagement events and prepare reports and meeting minutes, as required.
• Assist in the preparation of work plans and project reports.
• Carry out budgeting, accounting and financial reporting of project activities.
• Establish and maintain project filing system, incoming and outgoing correspondence and maintain a calendar of events.
• Maintain cooperation and communication with project partners and beneficiaries on the implementation of the agreed activities, particularly concerning the events, training, workshops, etc.
• Support in managing project finances, process invoices, and ensure tax exemption for project-related goods and services.
• Support procurement processes, provide inputs for requests for quotations/proposals, prepare tenders and small procurements (canvassing).
• Perform other tasks and duties as assigned by the project coordinator.
• Ensure full compliance of activities with GCF, FBCH and UNOPS rules, regulations, and policies.
• Coordinate and monitor the implementation of project activities; and
• Ensure timely preparation and submission of required reports per the requirements and standard set by UNOPS;

Qualifications and Experience

Education and Experience
• Bachelor degree or post graduate diploma in Project management, Business Management, development or climate finance, climate change or related discipline.
• At least five (5) years of relevant work experience in project management is required.
• Experience working in the UN system or other international organizations and asset knowledge of the Green Climate Fund, United
Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and other climate action enablers
• Experience in working in the relevant areas (environment and climate change, energy, agriculture, forestry) would be considered as an asset.
• Experience in organizational activities; evidence of ability to express ideas clearly; to work independently and in teams; to demonstrate a sense of self-assuredness. Demonstrated excellence in clear, concise and convincing writing and communication skills
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Fluency in English and any other local language
