Job Description
A local NGO is seeking applications for an individual consultant based on the following terms of reference:
Terms of reference for the research Biopesticides and biofertilizers in Zimbabwe.
The research seeks to generate knowledge for small scale farmers especially women on Biopesticides and Biofertilizers in Zimbabwe. Small Scale farmers must be aware of the benefits of using biofertilizers and biopesticides in their agricultural activities.
Duties and Responsibilities
The research will serve the following purposes;
1. Assess national legislation on Biopesticides and Biofertilizers. There will be identification of gaps and recommendations for improvement
2. Assess international laws and regulations on Biopesticides and biofertilizers and their adoption in Zimbabwe.
3. Make some policy recommendations on Biofertilizers and biopesticides.
The research must help duty bearers identify the most pertinent areas of concern and inform farmers on how to protect their rights for improved resilience and livelihoods and provision of legal services to protect the rights of the small-scale farmers and promote the use of biofertilizers and biopesticides.
Qualifications and Experience
Applicant requirements/ Relevant qualifications
• A Master’s degree in Agriculture or relevant field.
• A minimum of 5 years’ experience working in the Agricultural sector in Zimbabwe
• An appreciation of local agriculture practices is preferred
• Candidate must exhibit knowledge on bio pesticides and bio fertilizer.
