2 x Community Mobilisation Officers (12 Months) – (Manicaland and Masvingo)
Project background
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic Africa AHEAD a national NGO, in partnership with Action Against Hunger are implementing various WASH projects in Manicaland and Masvingo Provinces
Africa AHEAD therefore seeks the services of 2 Community Mobilisation Officers to be based in Masvingo and Manicaland.
Job Summary
Mission 1 : Increase Stakeholder Knowledge on Covid Vaccines
The Community Mobilization Officer:
• Ensure quality and timely field level implementation of the Covid-19 Roll out Campaign programme against set objectives, targets, work plans
• Mentor and coach, the Vaccination teams (partners, health workers, community leadership and outreach staff) to address capacity gaps related to knowledge on Covid-19 Vaccination working closely with MOHCC
• Conduct supportive supervisory visits to Health institutions and Community, identifying potential needs (related to COVID-19 measures as well as low uptake of Covid-19 vaccine uptake) in the field and proposing immediate and effective solutions
• Facilitate collection and sharing of Community Perceptions in liaison with the community and stakeholders
• Contribute to the design of IEC material and Technical Documents related to COVID-19as well as vaccination
Mission 2 : Develop strategies to counter vaccine misinformation and promote uptake of Covid Vaccines
The Community Mobilization Officer is responsible for:
• Training and Introduction of the CPT on stakeholders, community and other partners on perceptions collection
• Through use of the Community Perceptions Tracker recommendations and otherwise-: dispelling myths on COVID-19 and Vaccination as well as promotion of vaccine uptake by coordinating with INGO/LINGO and MoHCC
• Creating communication and engagement initiatives on supporting vaccine uptake and addressing misinformation.
• PHHE Promoting adoption of preventative behaviour to protect people from COVID riding on analysis of community perceptions and supported by the COVID Hygiene Hub (hosted by LSTHM) and informed by ACF’s community
• Instituting behaviour changes through recommendations proffered from CPT
• Conducting Outreach events with healthcare workers and key stakeholders to support vaccine uptake (engagement forums, public hailing, forum theatres etc. )
Mission 3: Ensure the active participation of AA in Provincial and District sectoral coordination and technical forums and develop sectoral partnerships
The Community Mobilization Officer is responsible for:
• Facilitation of promotion of sectoral partnerships (civil society, NGOs, authorities, private sector.) and capacity building at District level
• Attending on behalf of AA and ACF Provincial and District meetings with other implementing partners and stakeholders to gather intel on COVID-19 vaccination related challenges and best practices
• Coordinate with the ACF Health Advisor, AA Program Manager and Monitoring and Evaluation team to ensure the timely provision of weekly reports, monthly and activity reports
• Support any other tasks provided by the PM aimed at improving the quality and coverage of the Covid-19 vaccination response
Qualification
A Degree in Public Health, Nursing, Health Promotions or related field.
Minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience with exposure in Covid-19 Education /awareness campaigns and community development
Conversant with government entry and exit protocols and experience working closely with MOHCH
Self-management skills - able to work with minimum supervision and possess strong stakeholder co-ordination
Ability to converse in Shona, English and Ndebele and report writing skills
Computer Knowledge necessary: Word, Excel, Power Point
