Job Description

MeDRA is a faith-based Local NGO owned by the Methodist Church in Zimbabwe. We have a spiritual approach to sustainable development. We are result oriented and believe in a theory of change that seeks to empower and transform our target communities.

Position
The incumbent will be leading and coordinating Communications, Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (CMEL), thus enabling MeDRA to be more visible externally and measure progress and impact of its initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities

Position summary
• CMEL Officer will be responsible for the development of an effective communication strategy which ensures the organization reaches its key audience
• Produce organisation’s promotional materials
• Develop and maintain an up-to-date database of journalists and media organisations, respond to media enquiries on deadline and build dialogue with media organisations
• Build the capacity of other staff members to adequately meet the branding and communication needs for MeDRA publicity and communication purposes
• Management of website and social media platforms
• Manage a robust monitoring and evaluation system that will ensure tracking of projects results at different levels
• Collection of relevant and appropriate qualitative and quantitative data needed for effective MEL system which will be utilised in monitoring strengths, weaknesses, and gaps in projects and for reporting on donors
• Capacity build and support team members in gathering, tracking and reporting data; Undertaking qualitative and quantitative data analysis
• Support the development of programmatic reports, in accordance with donor guidelines and formats
• Monitor all project activities, expenditures and progress towards achieving the project output and recommend further improvement of the logical framework
• Support programmes team in extracting lessons learnt and good practices and documenting case studies and success stories which demonstrate qualitative and quantitative changes.

Qualifications and Experience

Qualifications and expectations
• Bachelor’s Degree in Communication/Development Studies/ Economics, /Marketing/Monitoring & Evaluation/ Statistics/Demography /Population Studies
• Working knowledge of statistical packages
• Good Knowledge Management skills
• Experience in conducting surveys or assessments and evaluations
• Experience in Food Security, WASH, Emergency Response, Social Justice programmes
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in M & E and or Accountability systems and progressive responsibility working with donors
• Strong proficiency in MS Office Suite ability to analyze and interpret data using Excel, or statistical packages eg SPSS, Excel, Epi Info, SMART, STAT 01
• Excellent communication and writing skills & ability to communicate at different levels
• Spoken and written fluency in English
• Clean class 4 driver’s license
