SHDF, a local membership-based capacity building organization is seeking an attentive, organized, and motivated Communications Intern.
The candidate must be resident in Harare.

Duties and Responsibilities

Responsibilities
Working directly under the supervision of the Communications Officer, the duties of the Communications Intern will include, but may not be limited to the following: Support in the development of communications materials and multimedia products that are attractive, consistent, well written, and propel interest; Supporting in the development and design of digital content for social media; web, and print materials; Utilizing online metrics tools (such as Google Analytics) to report on statistics for websites, social media sites, management of social platforms such as Facebook, Twitter; You Tube; Assist with documenting success stories; editing of digital stories from the organization’s contributors; assist in developing visibility materials such as flyers and brochures and organizing head office events. This internship is designed to be both educational and practical. The intern will gain experience in design, marketing, and programming alongside the personable and knowledgeable Communications & Programs teams. The opportunity will build his or her communications and marketing skills through hands-on experience with different areas of the organization. The ideal candidate is a media and digital enthusiast, with exceptional writing and graphic design skills, a strong interest and demonstrated curiosity and/or experience in inclusive development.

Qualifications and Experience

Qualifications and skills Required
Firm grasp of social media tools and platforms including Twitter, Facebook and YouTube; High level of computer literacy and ability to learn new technology quickly; Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop highly desired; Knowledge on website content management is a plus; Exceptional writing ability and experience with writing stories; Self-motivated, good organizational skills, detail-oriented, ability to prioritize, multi-task and meet deadlines; Genuine enthusiasm for creating compelling marketing materials to support the organization’s programs. Studying towards a degree in Communication, Journalism and Media Studies, Media & Society Studies, Mass Communication; Public Relations; Marketing, Photography and Editing or any other related field; with an interest and aptitude to work in development communication.
