An exciting opportunity has arisen in a growing retail concern for the position of Coffee Shop Manager. The role entails achieving set targets through efficiently and effectively utilising all material, financial and human resources. The role requires a young, dynamic, energetic and creative person to manage a chain of coffee shops in a fast growing retail environment.
• Establish practices and procedures for the daily operations that will ensure a stable,
profitable and growing business which exceeds customer expectations.
• Participates in formulating and administering company policies, directing and
coordinating all coffee shop activities to develop and implement short to mid-term
goals and objectives to meet business and profitability growth objectives
• Participate in the development of the menu and work closely with the chefs on
recipes, presentation and costing.
• Ensure conditions regarding the treatment of staff which is fair and in accordance
with the country’s labour laws and Human Resources policies.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable laws i.e. licenses, health regulations etc.
• Supervise and assist all departmental head chefs and cooks in achieving goals and
objectives set.
• Perform regular performance reviews of all head chefs and cooks and general staff.
• Maintain an organizational structure that promotes fair distribution of work while
maintaining maximum service to customers.
• Build and sustain relationships with customers, suppliers and producers to develop
effective product promotion.
• Determine staffing requirements and advises the HR department for the necessary
processes.
• Perform sales floor work such as greeting and assisting customers, checking the
quality of the coffee shop offering and directing any changes with a view of satisfying
identified customer needs.
The ideal person must possess the following:
• A qualification in Hospitality/Hotel Management with a strong bias towards food and
beverage.
• Three years in a managerial position preferably two must have been in a
hospitality/restaurant sector.
• Experience of working in the restaurant/food industry is desirable.
• Experience in working with directors/ senior managers providing professional,
accurate and strategic advice.
• Excellent people skills, outstanding ability to manage a team of people and ability to
communicate at all levels
• Must have an understanding of Human resource management concepts.
• Must have an understanding of various statutes governing the operations of food
chain and hospitality
